CGI- CGI (computer generated imagery) is used within the first carry Potter film to create a real life troll. This is used to show that Harry and Ron are fighting a real life troll. By using CGI it makes the troll look realistic, we know CGI is used because trolls don't exit in real life.

Digital Composting- In this show reel it shows how digital composting is used throughout the films shown. Digital composting is the process of digitally assembling multiple images to make a final image. Meaning that multiple images are used to enhance a shot. Digital composting is used to add in more detail to certain props, to enhance the sky/lighting. In one of the clips, 0:43, it shows that they have darkened the sky and make it look duller. This is to show how moody the atmosphere is.

Blue/Green Screen Chromo key- Blue and green screen are used to create a realistic background for a film/tv show. Green screen are more common to used than blue screen, mainly because it is easier to get away with fewer studio light and blue screen is harder to light. However, blue screen is is easier to colour correct and it is easier/better to use for night or low light scenes. In the clip, 0:00 green screen is clearly used because there is no way both actors are in the middle of a ship battle at sea.

Mattes- A matte Painting is used in all types of movies, however the most iconic matte painting was used in Star Wars, Where C-3PO was standing in a desert. This enhances the movie because it creates a setting for the actor to act in and enhance their acting because they know where they are and what they can and can’t do. It would also be cheaper to use a matte painting than actually going to a desert to film the scene, therefore the movie wouldn't be over budget

Morphing- Morphing is used when a person/object is transformed into something different. An example of morphing is when Professor McGonagal morphed from a cat to a human. This enhances the movie as it reinstates that she is magical being and in a magical world and the movie is a fantasy. It would also help create wonder and excitement for the audience as they might of her seen something morph before

3D Graphics- 3D Graphics (animation) is a type of animation that uses computer generated images to create animated scenes. Compared to 2D animation, or traditional animation, 3D has much more depth, and it looks much more realistic. 3D animation was used for the demontors in Prisoner of Azkaban, this enhances the movie because it makes them more realistic and human like, making them more scary like they were said to be in the books. If the dementors were a 2D animation it would be clear they were fake and unbelievable for the audience, making them less scary.
|
2D Animation- 2D animation is the traditional type of animation and is easily recognisable. Unlike 3D animation, 2D animation isn't realistic or believable

|
Mechanised Props- Mechanised props is where a team of people will create a huge prop using electronics to make a prop move. An example is During Chamber of Secrets, where you see Harry fight a huge snake (a basilisk) This was achieved through animatronics. This enhanced the clip because it gave Daniel Radcliffe a visual snake that he can fight face to face with. This makes the scene more believable because he knows how to fight the snake because he can see it. It makes it more easier for him to act out a fight because he can see it instead of imagining it. Therefor making the fight more believable.

|
Stunt Props- Stunt props are props that are used in a action sequence. An example of this is sugar glass, where it is a type of glass that is used that can easily break however it does not cut or hurt the actor.
